We are two young professionals who live in a lovely little top floor flat of a big old 3 storey building that is 100+ years old. We just said goodbye to our beloved housemate and have a spare room available now.
Your room is bright and airy and was recently decorated with white walls, dark grey wooden floorboards and traditional skirting & wooden windows painted white.
You'd ideally have some of your own stuff - the landlady is willing to buy a new double bed and some furniture if you want. I would consider the room as a large double (about 12 foot by 10 foot if that means anything to you). Your room is overlooking Green Lanes, a road which can get a little bit busy at times.
The place has got character, it's actually on top of a gastropub called The Leconfield. Our flat has three double bedrooms and there's hardly any noise from the pub below as we're on the third floor. It's clean and offers value for money (650 / month inclusive of all bills except 100mb Virgin Media wireless internet at an extra 14.50 per month) and being a private let it's pretty relaxed - with no agent fees etc. The landlord is very trustworthy and is 'hands off' unless there's an issue which needs her attention - you can put up a shelf without asking permission. I've been here for over five years and I can advocate that the let is secure and our landlady (who lives on in the first floor flat for 6 months of the year) is nice.
We have a small, modern kitchen with fridge, freezer, oven, microwave, kettle, etc. but no room to sit and eat. There's also a little bathroom with the all important electric power shower with instant, unlimited hot water and decent enough pressure. Plus a washing machine tucked away in hallway storage room. Being a big old building, there's considerable storage available.
There's no living room, and the communal hallways below the flat are a little tired looking. The traditional windows are old and inefficient but they look pretty and the heating is on from around 06:00-12:00 & 17:00-23:00 daily (remember, no bills).
We live in a quiet residential area that is close to Highbury & Islington, Dalston, Shoreditch & Angel, with great links to central London. The main draw of the area is the wonderful green space that is Clissold Park & the gorgeous cafes, restaurants and bars of Newington Green & Stoke Newington Church Street, which are minutes away.
- Canonbury Overground station is 6 mins walk away and links directly to the Victoria Line (Highbury & Islington is 1 min ride away), Shoreditch, Whitechapel, New Cross, Camden, Hampstead, Richmond, Clapham...
- There are many busses right outside your door to London Bridge (25 mins), Angel (10 mins).
You'll be living with with Ad Director Richard, mid thirties and model Suzi, mid twenties.
We're looking for a considerate young professional who is friendly, independent, sociable, into music or film or the arts and likes cooking & cleaning. English speaking is a must please.
We look forward to hearing from you.
