I have a double-room to rent in my lovely 2-bedroom flat in Kennington. The room is a good-sized double, already furnished with a double bed, wardrobe and chest of drawers. There's also space for a desk or other furniture. It's bright and has a big window with great views of St. Paul's and the Gherkin. The flat also has a living room, one bathroom and kitchen with washing machine, tumble dryer and oven/hobs. We have a caretaker who looks after the communal areas of the block and takes the rubbish from the front door during the week. The flat has a television, Freeview, internet and landline.

It was totally renovated when I bought it in 2005 (I'm the only other person who lives here) and is still in perfect condition. It's in a low-rise block (3 floors) in a peaceful tree-lined courtyard, 10 minutes walk to Tesco and a few minutes walk from bus routes both to the West End and the City. You can easily walk to London Bridge (30 minutes) and the City from here, and Waterloo (15 minutes). It's also close to Kennington Park and the pubs and restaurants at Kennington Cross.

Monthly payment includes heating and hot water, but Council Tax is extra. The room is available from 1st June 2008. I'm 27 and would like to share with a professional of similar-ish age - 20s or early 30s. I own the flat, but am looking for a flatmate rather than a lodger. No couples though, I'm afraid!
