These are e-mails I've received about MoveFlat.com over the past three months. they aren't censored and I haven't excluded bad ones. The mail is exactly as it arrived.
It's full of British middle class crap: 'up for the odd glass of wine or two in the evening'... WOW.

I've been with you from the start, and I've advertised my room on your site for four years now.
Now you're telling me I've got to pay to do that, because I own the flat.
I'm not going to pay you, and I will seek resources elsewhere.
What I think is noticeably good is the absence of crap, but I think you could do more in terms of customer feedback.
It's quite good. I've got to hand that to you.
I think it's a bit snobby: Clapham Islington and a bit round the edges.

I think it is OK that people that make money out of advertising on sites should have to pay something BUT I really hope you aren't going to go down the road of charging for everything, because I think this would spoil your site.

I had to find accommodation in London at short notice, and found it quite a daunting task, but moveflat.com truly saved the day! I love the way it's free, because I found it frustrating to find barriers to access on other websites, so that you couldn't contact people when you liked the sound of their place.
It's great how much information you encourage people to give, especially regarding price, transport, occupations and interests. The search facilites are fabulous too, I made particular use of the zone facility as I was unfamiliar with London's layout.

I have just read some of your flatshare tips.
I have found tenants to be dishonest cheeky assumptious little devils with little or no morals.
Your advice seems to make them feel they own the house or flat.
Perhaps you could edit your advice in favour of the owners who perhaps are the good guys.
[My note: the flatshare tips were not edited. One of the drags of running any website is that you occasionally get stuff like this.]

I haven't filled my room yet as it's been on your
website since Saturday, but your website has been a
million times better than LOOT. I paid £20 squid plus
national rate prices to tell a rude person on the
other end what I wanted him to write for a two week
advert slot and have had no response, I paid zilch to
put an ad on your website and I have had 7 since
Saturday night and it's the holiday weekend, where I
expected zilch.
Basically after that last long winded sentence I want
to say so far your website is better than LOOT and a
savour.
Whatever happens, thank you very much. I will

There can be nothing worse than moving into a house or finding someone to move in plus getting screwed in the process by dodgy internet payments.

You have a site with a lot of property on it, which is good. But why the hell don't you tidy it up ? When you start off, it looks like a dog's breakfast. Fonts all mixed up. No pictures atall. You get used to it ....eventually.

Just to say thanks and what a great web site. I've used moveflat now from
the room hunting and offering points of view and think it's great. Loot
seems to attract all kinds of [adjective withheld by me since I don't want to get sued] people, and although I actually got my
tennant through the gumtree, I showed the room to lots of nice people who
saw it on moveflat.
Keep up the good work and I hope you get the recognition you deserve for
your site - I'm sure if you floated it on the stockmarket it would be
snapped up.

old fashioned way of plowing through various search engines etc, but now I

through mates at work who recommended it. The site more than lived up to
expectations
easy to use
contains all the information about each property that I want to know
no problem navigating unlike other sites I have come across and no links to
estate agents sites or search engines which are very annoying
I have already come across a flat that i'm interested in within 5 minutes
unlike loot that takes ages to search and is not specific at all
while another site links you to sites you don't want to visit
Good idea I hope it continues to go well for you and would recommend this
site over any commercial site on the internet.

I just thought I should send you a note to say thank you for your brilliant site. Thanks to your moveflat.com I have finally managed to find somewhere to live in a great location and with nice people. I'd started to think it was impossible.
What I look for in a website is:
Ease of use
Presentation
Usefulness of Information - Specifically that the website is up to date.
Nothing infuriates me more than people who start a website without any
intention of maintaining it. A lot of corporations (who charge and have a
large budget)are the biggest offenders.
I used your site on the weekend to find a flat for my friend. This was after
she had met every weirdo under the sun looking at properties in the l**t.
Her brother wanted her to go through an agency, but I convinced them to look
at your site on Sat night and she had been accepted in a flat by Sun
afternoon. Doesn't get any better than that.
The best sites on the web are free. I hope you don't mind but I recommend
yours to everyone.

after less than two weeks of having an ad up on your
site, we received six phone calls, had three
interviews, and found one flatmate! Hurrah for that!
We were referred to your website through a friend who
successfully found a great flatmate, and I just wanted
to say thanks. I'll definitely use your site in the
future if the need arises.
You should publicise your site more - I only came across it by accident.
Also, it means that the ads are far more personal whilst providing much more
information. The 'quality' of candidates for the room in my house was far
better than those I got from the ad in Loot - the fact that the moveflat.com
gives more information means that the only people getting in contact you are
those genuinely interested in your house after seeing full details of the
room availability.
I'll be recommending your site in the future!

Yes, just a little feedback.... I got many calls quoting moveflat as their
source and have now found a new housemate. It's an excellent service.
Quality. My only comment would be ( 'cos I work in this field myself) is
that the interface is could be a lot slicker, the navigation better and
could still conform to RNIB, W3C guidelines.
In short, a more professional presentation layer would improve the
experience and possibly help if you are looking for funding or sponsorship
in the future.
Just a quick email to say thanks for letting me use your site. It's worked
out really well (well, we'll see when the guy moves in!) and we even may
have also made a new friend through the site - one guy couldn't afford to
move in but me and my flat mates got on well and are going to hook up some
time for a beer.

have let my room, having had my pick of quality tenants. Your site is user
friendly and well laid out, and appears to be the most effective method of
finding tenants right now, particularly for house shares. I particularly

rehome myself each time, it is definately the most comprehensive service
avaliable to would be londeners, the map facility is particularly useful,
and the amount of information you require sharers to give to advertise the

By the way, I once found a very nice flat through this site in February,
but 3 months after I moved in, our landlord decided to sell the flat,
and we got kicked out in 2 months. Luckily through a friend, I soon
found a very nice room in a house to share only with the cool landlord.
It was actually my third moving in this year (the first two were my
decision to move out because of feeling uncomfortable), so I was very
happy to be eventually settling there for a while. Then unbelievably 2
months after moving in, I again found myself getting kicked out - This
time my landlord suddenly fell in love with someone who lived very far,
and they decided she would move in... Of course I'm happy for them,
but... Am I cursed or what...?!
Anyway, your site is the best for flat search, Julian. Also, I no longer
live with my ex-flatmate of the flat I found through your site, we are
now very close friends, and that's all thanks to you too. Now I really
hope to find my new home where I can really eventually settle for a
while!

Hi! Just a quick note to say that I love your site but find it frustrating to not be able to include more than one tubeline from a station. I know that many people search by tube lines and it would be great to say that the nearest tube is .... and has the ..., ... & ... lines. Would this be possible??
I like the way one can choose tube, price range, interests
etc. options in one's search and I partcularly like the
fact that one gets a lot of space to describe what he/she
offers/wants. The only downside is that that there are not
that many adverts but I guess that will come with time.

just a short note about your site which I've used on several occassions - it's very easy to use, the search features are simple and the automatic 'save' of your search is a real timesaver. Dimming ads that have been viewed and putting stars by new ads also makes the process smooth and avoids repetition. You've got a good community feel to the ads - after all, it's both the place and the people that you need to know about before making a choice. All in all, a great little site.

london and being able to search by zone is the only way to go, ive gone
through so many sites and i just look at the location and have no idea
wether they r outskirts or centre. I am very confident i will find a
place to say thru youre site but if youknow any other sites that can
search by zone plsssssssssss let me know as i hate searching thru loads
of sites and find they are a total waste of time for me. dont they
realise some of us have no idea where the different areas of london are?

I stumbled accross your website using google. So far
I've found it absolutely brilliant to use. The system
that you have for filtering out unwanted properties is
brilliant.
The only thing that I would suggest is that there be
an option of allowing you to select multiple types of
criteria without having to wait for the screen to
refresh between each selection. Instead, there should
be a button which says "search using selected criteria
now".
Anyway, even without the suggestion its 5*. Keep up

Whilst I have thoroughly failed in my attempts at finding somewhere to live
in London for next week I have to say that of all the websites I visited
your one was undoubtedly the best from a design point of view. Nothing is
more pleasing than the maximum functionality with minimum shite approach
(unlike all sites which employ flash media intro stuff).

Just a note to thank you for your brilliant site - the best way of flatmate finding I've come across in thirty years of moving around London! Now found a flatmate and have deactivated the ad.
Think it is particularly good on the gay-gay friendly issue. Great mix of people came round as a result - and the space for own description allows you to state whatever seems important on that issue anyway. Much better than the highly commercial Outlet site I think ....

Just thought I'd say this site kicks arse compared to the others I've been using. It's simple, quick and clear. You should seriously develop this (it's already pretty good) and get some advertising revenue from it but keep it free to access.

great. I have now got my own place and didn't need a room in the end but as
soon as got my place the first thing i did was put an ad in MoveFlat.com and
have received a great response.
The idea of puting all these people in touch with each other looking for
places to live is excellent, and has ben verry useful. I hope you do really
well with this site as it is the only one I found for flatshares that has
been of any use.
